At we clean, we currently look after around 20 educational facilities, ranging from large independent schools with extensive estates to smaller state schools and specialist education facilities. Our experience has shown that every school presents different challenges, particularly when it comes to flooring.

Daily cleaning provides the foundation of a well-maintained school, covering classrooms, corridors, offices, washrooms, dining areas, sports facilities and communal spaces.
Periodic deep cleans during half terms and longer holidays allow schools to go further. This can include intensive cleaning of fixtures and fittings, high-level areas, glazing, carpets, washrooms, furniture and, importantly, flooring.
Flooring is often one of the largest and most heavily used surfaces within a school. Dirt, grit, scuffing and general wear can quickly build up, while inappropriate cleaning methods can gradually damage surfaces rather than protect them.

As part of our Albion Foundation work, we recently donated our cleaning expertise to The Orchard School, carrying out a specialist deep clean to support the school and create a cleaner, refreshed environment for pupils and staff.
The donation gave us an opportunity to put the same specialist knowledge and equipment that we use across our commercial education portfolio and Specialist Projects to practical use within a local school.
We were able to contribute something directly aligned with our expertise: the time, people, equipment and technical knowledge of our Specialist Division.
For us, that is an important part of what the Albion Foundation partnership represents. Our relationship with West Bromwich Albion is not simply about sponsorship or visibility; it provides opportunities to make a tangible contribution to the communities in which we operate.
The Orchard School is a particularly meaningful example of this. Educational facilities are busy, demanding environments, and maintaining them properly requires significant time and resources. A deep clean can address areas that are difficult to manage during term time, helping refresh heavily used spaces and improve the overall presentation of the school.
Our team was able to bring its specialist approach to the project, looking beyond the visible areas and addressing the types of accumulated dirt, marks and wear that build up through continued use.
The project also reflects a wider principle behind our work with the Albion Foundation: using what we are good at to make a practical difference. As a regional business with a large frontline workforce operating across the Midlands, we believe supporting local communities should go further than just writing a cheque or pledging financial support.

Specialist floor care across educational facilities
Schools can contain a surprisingly diverse range of flooring. A single site may include terrazzo or marble in reception areas, parquet or Granwood in halls, vinyl or LVT in classrooms, safety flooring in washrooms, carpet in offices and specialist sports flooring in gymnasiums.
Each material requires a different approach.
Terrazzo, marble and natural stone require careful specialist treatment. Our floor restoration team can use diamond-based mechanical cleaning and polishing, alongside traditional vitrification techniques, to remove ingrained dirt, address dull or worn surfaces and restore their appearance.
The objective is not simply to create a high-shine finish, but to restore the surface while protecting the underlying material and ensuring it can withstand continued foot traffic. Ongoing maintenance programmes and advanced floor-pad technology can then help preserve the finish.
Parquet and timber flooring, commonly found in school halls and assembly spaces, can suffer from scratches, scuffs and wear caused by heavy footfall, furniture and sporting activities. Where appropriate, our specialist team can sand, re-finish, re-varnish and polish timber flooring, helping restore its appearance and extend its useful life. We also work with Granwood and oak strip flooring.
Vinyl, LVT, linoleum and safety flooring are widely used in modern education environments because they are durable and practical. Periodic machine scrubbing can remove accumulated dirt that routine mopping cannot, while suitable stripping, sealing and protective treatments can help maintain the surface where appropriate.
In areas where slip resistance is important, cleaning methods and products must be selected accordingly.
Carpets and soft flooring also benefit from periodic intensive cleaning, removing embedded dirt and staining that regular vacuuming cannot reach. Holiday periods provide an ideal opportunity to undertake this work and allow carpets to dry before pupils return. We specialise in Dry Fusion Technology, with our Specialist Team having pioneered its introduction to the UK cleaning market.
Ceramic and porcelain tiles are common in washrooms, kitchens and changing facilities, where accumulated dirt and staining can become particularly noticeable around grout lines. Specialist deep cleaning can target these areas alongside the wider cleaning of wet facilities.
Specialist education facilities
Our experience also extends beyond conventional schools. Specialist education environments require additional consideration around products, equipment, timings and how cleaning teams operate.
Our longstanding relationship with Selly Oak Trust School, alongside work at other specialist educational settings, has helped us develop a considerate, consistent and carefully managed approach to these environments.
