BRIAN O’ROURKE – ‘DEE RICHARDS’ PRIDE AWARD WINNER
Those who work with Brian O’Rourke describe him as an ‘old school’ Cleaning Operative, he has a no-nonsense attitude and a fantastic work ethic.
Brian joined we clean in 2015, and began working at our LEAR Corporation contract in Redditch. Already having many years of experience within the Cleaning Industry, Brian understood that to be successful, you must work hard and diligently, meaning his transition into we clean was very smooth.
Throughout his two years, Brian has formed a close bond with Contract Manager, Marie Peplow. It came as no surprise to Marie when Brian was awarded the ‘Dee Richards’ Pride Award, commenting:
“If there’s ever any extra work or Lear ever phone up, I can always get hold of Brian, he’s an absolute star who never lets me down! He’s supported me a lot, a really genuine, hard-working Operative!”
We managed to catch 5 minutes with Brian, to ask him a few questions:
What’s your name and where are you originally from?
My name is Brian O’Rourke and I’m originally from Birmingham.
How long have you been in the cleaning industry?
Since 2007! But the boots on the other foot as before I worked as a Cleaning Operative I used to have to let the Cleaning team’s in.
How long have you worked for we clean?
Since the start of we clean’s relationship with Lear, so just over 2 years.
What’s your role within the business?
I work here at Lear Corporation as a Cleaning Operative keeping this big site in good shape!
When does your working day start?
Quarter to 4 here until quarter to 9 Monday to Thursday and then Friday I work from midday through until half past 9! It’s non-stop, I do all the offices and the bins!
Whats your favourite thing about working for we clean?
I’d have to say my Contract Manager, Marie! It’s always nice when she pops in and says hello.
What do you feel makes working for we clean different?
Everybody is really friendly and attentive. It’s always good meeting different people and having banter with them and everybody is very friendly and easy to get along with here on-site.
What do you get up to at the weekend? Any hobbies?
I’m into my gardening quite a lot at the moment, especially with spring coming up, so I spend as much time out there as I can!
Finally, what does the award mean to you?
Well of course it means a lot to me, but then it means a lot to my Mrs as well! She’s really proud of me and she said she’s still trying to figure out how I actually got the award!
