END OF AN ERA @ WESTMINSTER
Gloria Wallen is sadly retiring after nearly half a century of committed service to our Handsworth based contract, Westminster School. Gloria’s relationship with Westminster School began back in 1971 where she started out as a Kitchen Assistant and Cleaning Operative.
Gloria – who lives across the road from this School – has thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of her job as a Cleaning Operative; she has seen hundreds of children grow up and leave the school and takes great ‘pride’ in the fact that she can call a lot of ex-pupils her friends. In Gloria’s 46 years in the job, she has rarely missed a day, this takes incredible dedication and a real desire to reach the high standards that are set by both we clean and Westminster School.
Gloria has been with we clean for 3 years – after a TUPE transfer from Birmingham City Council in 2014 – but those who work with her feel like she’s been with the Company for many years. Maureen Francis, Contract Manager will be upset to see Gloria leave commenting that:
“Gloria has a permanent smile on her face, she’s always in her uniform, working hard and it’s clear to see how much she loves her job”.
On Friday afternoon in the School Staff Room, all the School Staff and work colleagues from we clean gathered to formally wish Gloria all the very best in her retirement. Director Paul Concannon attended the gathering and paid tribute to Gloria’s outstanding longevity and together with Maureen presented her with leaving gifts and cards from all at we clean.
After such a lengthy career, everyone wishes her a very happy and well-earned retirement!
