    Whole Post

For the senior management at we clean and a large number of our front line Cleaning Staff in the Birmingham area, today will be a moment for reflection, as it would be the 67th birthday of our late Contract Manager, Dee Richards.

Director, Paul Concannon placing one of the two canvas’ of Dee on our Reception wall.

Dee is still very much a part of the we clean family and is always in our thoughts and prayers, and recently the business had two special canvas prints developed of Dee during her time with we clean that have been strategically placed at the Company Head Office facility.

Directors, Paul Concannon & David Harker and HR/Office Manager, Gaynor Powell unveil the canvas of the late Dee Richards.

Any staff member, visitor or Cleaning Operative who enters our Head Office facility will be greeted now by a wonderful picture taken of Dee back in 2006, when she was very much at the fulcrum of our company growth at that time.

The canvas is on full display in our Head Office Reception.

A second canvas has been placed in our Wage Department behind Christine Checkley, Payroll Adminstrator, where Dee is pictured with Directors, Paul Concannon & David Harker and her Brindleyplace Cleaning Team that she was so very proud of back in December 2015, presenting Baba Seckan, her Lead Housekeeper for the site with the UK Attendant of the Year Trophy.

Dee was always very passionate about the two weekly wage processing day and took great pride in ensuring all the staff got paid correctly for the work that they had completed. Hopefully this canvas will be an inspiration for all of our current Contract Managers to take great diligence in their fortnightly payroll processing.

The second canvas has been placed within our Wages Department.

God bless you Dee on your birthday.

The recent re-launch of the new Oozell’s Building (9 Brindleyplace), went off without a hitch as the we clean Internal and Estates Cleaning Teams, along with the Brindley Estates Facilities Team collaborated carefully to give this vibrant new office space a thorough post-refurbishment clean!

The exterior of the newly refurbished Oozell’s building.

Taking pride of place in Oozell’s Square, it was of paramount importance that the building and the surrounding areas were immaculate and ‘sparkling’ for the opening launch on Wednesday 12th September.

An extensive interior re-design, which included the Reception, Common Areas and Washrooms within this prestigious Birmingham Office Facility was carried out as well as changes to the exterior of the building, transforming it into a modern working environment.

The key to successfully carrying out the clean was the efficient and close communication between all areas of our Birmingham based organisation and Brindleyplace. Utilising both the we clean on site Internal and Estates Cleaning Teams at Brindleyplace, who were then supported by our own in-house Specialist Cleaning and Window Cleaning Divisions ensured that the short time period available to mobilise these works did not pose any operational problems and all tasks were completed on time with minimal disturbance to other users within the building.

(L-R) Darren McLean, We Clean’s Brindleyplace Estates Location Manager, Chris O’Hara, Estates Manager, Brindleyplace and Baba Seckan, We Clean’s Internal Brindleyplace Location Manager.

The Internal Cleaning Team focused on delivering the Washrooms and Common Area Spaces within the building in pristine condition, whilst the External Estates Team removed all litter, thoroughly washed down all paving to the perimeter of the building and carried out deep cleans to the dedicated car parking area. Our in-house Window Cleaning Team carried out internal shell glass cleaning, adding an extra glisten to the building, whilst the Specialist Cleaning Division worked diligently on the floor plates on all of the refurbished floors.

Birmingham based Inspire Healthcare Services, a longstanding supply chain partner to we clean were called in to install Washroom Hygiene provisions, and again, this was completed timely, highlighting the benefits of having strong arrangements with local suppliers.

Baba ensured all Washrooms were gleaming for the re-launch!

Chris O’Hara, Estates Manager for Brindleyplace commented:

“I just want to say a huge thank you to we clean for the superb standard of work, support and dedication you and your teams have shown to ensure the re-launch of Oozell’s Building, 9 Brindleyplace was in a fantastic state of cleanliness on the day. I know that you all went over and above to ensure the building, car park and externals looked superb. I really appreciate the hard work and dedication.

The feedback from everyone at the re-launch was positive and everyone was very impressed!”

Steve Rawlings turned 50 this past weekend and to celebrate this landmark birthday, work colleagues and friends gathered at the mac in Birmingham to throw him a surprise party!

Steve has been a part of the we clean senior management team from the very start, he is a real “do-er”, a man who ensures tasks are done correctly, the first time. He has built a long career within the cleaning industry, plying his trade for over 30 years, 15 of those being with we clean. He has the responsibility of heading up the Specialist Cleaning Division with fellow Director, Tim Byng, and has played a pivotal role in driving the company forward, utilising his vast industry insight and wide skill-set.

Throughout his time with the business, Steve has shown great dedication and commitment, building up a reputation for working extremely hard, something that sets him apart and is a key reason why he has had such longevity in a very tough role, where he regularly works long and unsociable hours.

Steve is a true family man, and this is reflected in his kind spirited nature, where he will always try and help colleagues, putting other people before himself and going above and beyond what is asked of him.

Tim Byng who has worked in partnership with Steve for the last 15 years commented:

“Steve is a very loyal, committed and hard working individual in our business, i have been in the fortunate position of working with him so closely in partnership, in delivering first class specialist cleaning services for over 15 years, although our friendship goes back over 30 years. We were delighted to be able to celebrate his birthday in style, he deserved it.”

We managed to pull Steve aside to ask him to sum up his day and what we clean means to him:

“After 15 years, despite some trials and tribulations the business has enjoyed much success, but more importantly myself and the rest of the senior management team, Paul, David, Gaynor and Tim have remained great friends and treat each other almost as family.. I say family and place a lot of emphasis on that word family, because that’s what the business is all about, we are a family. I would like to thank everybody for giving me such a wonderful day. It’s one I’ll never forget and will remember it very well for a long time to come.”

We are incredibly proud to have been recently awarded with the Cleaning Contract for the highly respected and world renowned West Bromwich Albion Football Club.

Over the past 4 years the we clean Specialist Cleaning Division has carried out scheduled Carpet and Hard Floor Cleaning for the football club, and as a result of the quality and professionalism in which this work was delivered by our team, the Albion decided to commit their entire cleaning operation to our organisation.

As the new season approaches these scheduled Carpet and Hard Floor Cleans in critical high-profile areas within the Stadium will once again be carried out, however, the immediate focus for the we clean management team is to carry out and complete a thorough Deep Clean of all stadia seating and concourse areas at The Hawthorns.

The clean will initially begin in the Birmingham (Brummie) Road End of the ground, then the West Stand and Smethwick End with the East Stand being the main focal point at the end of the project. To assist this intense cleaning programme we clean have introduced large pedestrian scrubber drier machines to clean concourse areas whilst portable pressure washing equipment is being used to remove any surface debris from seats and stadia steps. Each of the 26,688 seats will receive a hand wash, and be sponge scrubbed and dry buffed. This task requires good old fashioned hard work and elbow grease and we are very lucky to have an incredibly dedicated and hard-working team of 20 plus Operatives on hand to carry out this essential work.

Heading up our team of Cleaning Operatives at The Hawthorns is Beris Hylton who has been working at the Albion for over 10 years and we are delighted that he has joined our team and he has been delighted with the support he has received to date in terms of labour, key equipment, cleaning materials and PPE so allowing him and his pre-season cleaning team to carry out works as efficiently and as safely as possible.

As an organisation we feel extremely honoured to be awarded this contract which throughout the regular season will include Stadium Match Day and post-Match Day Cleans plus daily cleaning to all Administration Offices, the Club Shop, Ticket Offices, the Training Ground and Academy as well as providing cleaning services for Specific Corporate Events held in the Suites.

Managing this multi-sited contract will be Contract Manager, Jane Shields, who herself is an avid West Brom supporter and season ticket holder and she is relishing the opportunity to provide a high-quality cleaning service to the football club she has supported and loved all of her life.

The team at the football club are headed up by Director of Operations, Mark Miles, who has demonstrated a real commitment to maintaining the exemplary standards that have been set at The Hawthorns over the years and although the Albion will be playing Championship football this coming season, they are totally focused on maintaining Premier League standards around the ground and with that, we would like to wish Darren and the squad all the very best in making a quick return to the top table of English football at the end of the 2018/19 season!
