It is hard to believe that a year has passed since The West Bromwich Building Society made the short move across town from West Bromwich High Street to their impressive Head Office Facility in Providence Place.

The 70,000sqft office space accommodates over 550 West Brom Building Society staff, and we clean are proud to have 16 Cleaning Operatives on-site each weekday to ensure that both the exterior and interior of the building remain as immaculate as the day it first opened back in April 2016.

After working closely with The West Brom for over a decade, we clean played a pivotal part in ensuring that the transition from the old to the new went smoothly, with our Specialist Cleaning Division carrying out an initial office ‘sparkle’ clean before any staff moved in to the new Head Office facility.

With 16 Cleaning Operatives, including a Daytime Housekeeper and Porter operating over 5 floors we are able to maintain this ‘state of the art’ facility and ensure that any problems that do arise can be dealt with quickly and effectively.

In addition, we clean will be providing Scheduled External & Internal Window Cleaning to all areas of the building, a comprehensive ongoing Carpet Cleaning Maintenance Programme and periodic Hi Tech Cleaning to all workstations throughout the office complex.

The West Brom Corporate Facilities Manager, Mark Brayford commented:

“A year has flown by, we clean were on-site from the off and they carried out the first full office clean which helped us prepare for all of our staff coming in. Throughout April 2016 we moved all 500 plus staff into the building and so for that period we clean had to provide additional resources to deal with the transition and by introducing both the Housekeeping and Porter roles it has made a real difference and been a big success. We set out and put a plan in place to help ensure that the building stayed looking as good as it did on the first day. We’re all very pleased with how things have turned out and are delighted with we clean who always go above and beyond. Lynn Gill (we clean Contract Manager Black Country) is excellent and always on hand to nip any problems in the bud.”

With approximately 37 West Brom Building Society branches to look after throughout the West Midlands and Welsh borders, together with the new Head Office Facility, Lynn is constantly busy but thrives on the challenge of ensuring that the high we clean standards that are set never drop!

Lynn believes this is all down to teamwork:

“It’s all about working together, the team we have here at Providence Place are ‘outstanding’ and always give 110%, of course the transition initially was a challenge, especially for the long standing staff members who were so used to the old WBBS Principal Office located on the West Brom High Street. But thankfully everybody has adapted well, and we’re confident that we leave Mark and all the staff at West Brom with nothing to worry about, as we’re here to make things easier.”

We are immensely proud to work with The West Brom, who have grown to become the UK’s 7th largest Building Society, and we are pleased their transition went so smoothly and that we have helped keep this new office space incredibly clean and look forward to doing so for many more years to come!

We are incredibly pleased to have partnered once again with 3 Screen Productions to create an innovative carpet cleaning tutorial on-site at our prestigious West Bromwich Building Society contract.

Director and Filmmaker Andy Oxley was present in The West Brom’s stunning new Head Office as we looked to capture on camera, the intricate and meticulous process our Specialist Cleaning Division regularly go through to transform and bring to life a variety of different carpets.

Whilst carpets play an integral part in most buildings, they are rarely given the care and attention they need to stay in their original, pristine condition. First impressions of a building are often heavily influenced by the appearance of carpeted area’s and these areas play a big part in affecting people’s perception of the building. The carpeting of a building is a substantial investment and both Facilities and Building Managers must ensure that they maximise the working life of this fixture that takes the brunt of the footfall and dirt that comes along with it.

Our Specialist Cleaning Division have the expertise to restore a vast array of carpets and can usually be on-site in less than 2 hours to quickly remove any accidents that inevitably occur in a working environment.

As a Company, we clean know the importance of causing minimal disruption and so our Operatives are available to work out of office hours, or whenever is best suited to ensure that your day to day working life is unaffected.

Marie Peplow has definitely earned the right to put her feet up and enjoy retirement. For nearly 12 years she has been an integral part of we clean, working tirelessly within the organisation. Whether its motivating her team of Operatives or visiting Client contacts to ensure they are happy.

Marie initially started as a Cleaning Operative but her leadership qualities and work ethic quickly set her apart and she was soon appointed Contract Manager for the Birmingham South region. Marie worked very closely with Dee Richard’s – who she formed a great bond with – and she looks back fondly on the early years when they would both be working long days in and around Birmingham, ensuring everything was running smoothly. As Contract Manager, Marie’s people skills shone through and she really enjoyed making genuine friendships with Client contacts throughout her time with we clean

Marie’s retirement has been celebrated in multiple ways, firstly, all of the Cleaning Operatives she oversaw at Town Hall & Symphony Hall treated her to a meal, where they recalled all of the fantastic years they enjoyed together. Secondly, Chris McCall, School Marshal from Solihull School along with Location Managers Christine and Jo, organised a collection and surprised Marie in her last week at work.

Marie was then surprised again, this time at our Birmingham-based Head Office, where her entire we clean family threw a surprise party, allowing all of Marie’s colleagues and friends to give her a wonderful send-off. It also provided an opportunity for three valued we clean staff to bring in their new young arrivals. David and Heather Holmes brought in their newest addition, Dorothea. Martin and Grace Barr also brought in their little girl, Ruby and Evie-May, Ross Anderson’s youngest was warmly welcomed too.
After spending so many years with we clean, Marie will be deeply missed by everyone, but Marie feels now is the perfect time to retire, commenting “I’ve had a fantastic time here, whilst it’s been a huge challenge, I wouldn’t change anything and I’m really going to miss all of the people, and just picking up the phone and calling the office. But, I am very much looking forward to putting my feet up!”

Marie is immensely proud to have been a part of the growth that the Company has experienced over the past decade, and Director’s David Harker and Paul Concannon will miss her greatly “Marie has been a fantastic Contract Manager, always willing to go the extra mile and able to interact so well with both existing and new Clients”.

Everybody at we clean would like to wish Marie a very happy retirement, although she has already been back to the office making coffee and chatting away as if she never left!

THERE IS MORE TO IT THAN MEETS THE EYE

Here at we clean, we understand the value of a positive first impression. However, where Washroom hygiene is concerned, it is important to look past first impressions and delve a little deeper.

Harmful germs and bacteria are very common in Washroom environments and whilst a surface may look clean, this is not always the case. it is only when the correct methods are used, that a surface can be hygienically clean. There are numerous benefits to a hygienically clean Washroom, namely, it will stop the spread of harmful germs and bacteria to other areas of the workplace, but a pleasant bathroom environment will also boost staff morale and save the fabric of the building, in turn reducing ongoing running costs.

Through the implementation of proper and professional Washroom Cleaning methods and thanks to incredibly rigorous training, we clean Operatives are able to remove the maximum amount of harmful bacteria as possible. In co-ordination with the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICS), our Cleaning Operatives use a ‘clean to dirty’ methodology using correct colour coding and materials, resulting in our clients having a healthy Washroom environment that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but hygienically clean!

Our dedicated Training and Health & Safety Manager, Duncan Thomson is confident that:

“Our methods ensure that we aren’t further contaminating any areas of the Washroom, instead we look to remove harmful bacteria by working from the least to most used areas of the Washroom. We don’t underestimate the value of thorough training, it is an integral part of the Company’s ethos to provide an excellent standard of cleaning.”

Evidence of the importance the Company puts on Washroom hygiene, is highlighted through our success at both the 2015 and 2016 UK Loo Of The Year Awards, which are considered to be the pinnacle in Washroom hygiene standards. The awards have a simple objective, to encourage the highest possible standards in all ‘away from home’ Washrooms. We take great pride in the fact that for the past two years running, one of our Cleaning Operatives, Baba Seckan has won National Attendant Of The Year and the Company has won the UK Loo Of The Year Award in 2015.

These accolades are a testament to the emphasis we put upon Washroom hygiene as we aim to ensure that our clients washrooms not only look the part, but are safe and free from harmful bacteria.
