    Whole Post

In the modern world where the workplace has become a very transient place and longevity at one particular building or organisation is either a distant memory of how things used to be for some, or seen as a lack of ambition by others, Lynn Gill provides a refreshing example of how both ‘ideals’ can be achieved with the right application and dedication to the job!

For over 20 years, Lynn Gill has worked with The West Bromwich Building Society, starting initially in 1999 as a stand in Cleaning Operative at the old Head Office facilities in High Street West Bromwich, before quickly progressing to Cleaning Supervisor for the onsite team at the time.

In 2007 we clean were awarded the Cleaning Contract for the West Brom Building Society and quickly identified the extensive capabilities of Lynn to not only manage a team of Cleaning Staff, but to effectively liaise with the onsite client facilities team to ensure that service expectations were always met in full. Consequently, during her time with we clean Lynn has progressed to the role of Contract Manager where she not only looks after the new prestigious West Brom Head Office facilities in Providence Place but also their entire 39 Local Branch network together with other key contracts held by we clean across the wider Black Country area!

It’s a testament to Lynn and the partnership approach she has cultivated at the Building Society that the Facilities Management Team at the West Brom wanted the Directors of we clean to share in this special 20 Year Service Award presentation to Lynn, where they could formally mark the fantastic contribution she has made to this well known, well respected and long standing financial and community based institution.

Mark Brayford, Corporate Facilities Manager presents Lynn Gill with a bouquet of flowers.

Speaking after receiving her award, Lynn said:

“I can’t believe its been 20 years, I can remember starting out with The West Brom and it feels like ages ago, but they’re a fantastic organisation to work with, it’s never been us and them, we always feel like one team, and both myself and our Cleaning Operatives really appreciate that. To receive this recognition from The West Brom and for we clean to share it with me means a lot and it’s a very special occasion which I’m very honoured to be a part of!”

    Paul Concannon, Director commented:

“What a fantastic achievement for Lynn to have been working with The West Bromwich Building Society for 20 years! This Long Service Award reflects the outstanding commitment and desire Lynn has shown consistently over many years ‘to get the job done right’! Lynn’s outstanding professionalism, enthusiasm and overriding integrity means that both The West Brom and ourselves at we clean are very proud to have her in our team!”

David Harker founded we clean back in 2003 with Paul Concannon, and with fellow partners Stephen Rawlings and Tim Byng plus our longstanding HR/Office Manager, Gaynor Powell they have seen the business grow from humble beginnings to a much respected cleaning organisation, with over 525 fantastic staff, and an exciting portfolio of clients.

Those who know David know him as somebody with a real passion for life, he has worked in the cleaning industry for over 30 years and still works with a huge drive and determination. To mark and celebrate this special occasion, we clean staff gathered at our Head Office earlier today to raise a glass to our Dave!

David himself had this to say:

“Its unbelievable to think that we clean is now in its 16th year, yet it only feels like yesterday when we first set out on this memorable and rewarding journey!

It’s humbling to see how our business has progressed over the years and I’m truly appreciative of the organisation and for the surprise gathering here at our Head Office in Birmingham by our loyal, friendly and committed staff.”

I’d also like to say a big thank you for all the cards, messages and congratulations on reaching this ripe old age, delivered by some of our great clients and friends, whom I’ve been fortunate to establish longstanding and genuine relationships with!

Thanks again everyone for your kind thoughts, presents and sincere wishes, here’s to the next 10 years, have a whisky on me!”

We wish David much health and happiness in the future!

We are sad to announce that two Cleaning Operatives who have been with we clean for nearly a decade, Pauline Redding and Harpinder Kaur, are unfortunately leaving the organisation!

    Pauline Redding

Pauline has made the difficult decision to cease working due to ongoing health issues, and will be a massive loss at the UK-NSI Redditch site where she has worked so effectively for a number of years.

Daytime Cleaning Operative, Daniel Antwi Gyankoma, Contract Manager, Robb Paton, Lee Gordon, Location Manager, Pauline Redding, Early Morning Cleaning Operative, David Somerville, Facilities Engineering Manager and Paul Concannon, Director.

Back in 2009, Pauline was interviewed by Director, Paul Concannon and the Contract Manager at the time, Marie Peplow for a cleaning position at the new Headquarters for Kalamazoo Print. They knew that she was the type of person that would suit an organisation like ourselves, thanks to her likeable personality and desire to do the job right! Their judgement was right as today Paul Concannon presented Pauline with her 10 Year Service Award, a few months short of her anniversary, but very well deserved nonetheless.

Throughout her 10 year career she worked on numerous sites within the Redditch area, providing diligent and reliable support on each site.

David Somerville, Facilities Engineering Manager, UK-NSI and our Client Contact commented:

“Pauline was a larger than life character when working at our site. I have known her for the last 4 years when she was responsible for cleaning our washrooms on the early shift. This can be a thankless task with her having to come in early in the morning to find the toilets in various states during her time. She was never shy in coming forward and would be straight talking. We had our moments but on reflection Pauline was a reliable and conscientious worker who gave her best in her role. I wish her well for the future.”

    Harpinder Kaur

Harpinder Kaur is the other Cleaning Operative who is sadly leaving us. Harpinder worked under Lynn Gill, Contract Manager at The West Bromwich Building Society’s Head Office.

However, due to the changing of working arrangements and security times being altered, Harpinder is unable to complete her shift in the morning, and still take her children to school. Harpinder has been with we clean for just over 10 years and has been incredibly effective in her role, and has lead by example from the outset.

Lynn Gill is full of praise for Harpinder:

“I have so many nice things to say about Harpinder, she is so willing and helpful and always goes above and beyond what i expect of her. She is such a friendly and kind person, and just a genuinely nice person too. She works fantastically within a team and is very caring. The door is always open for her to return when her children are older, and i hope she does return. I wish her all the best for the future.”

Yesterday evening we clean Director Paul Concannon and RoSPA Facilities and Health & Safety Manager Anita Gough, presented Deborah Allen with her 10 Year Service Award!

Anita Gough, RoSPA, Deborah Allen and Paul Concannon.

For the last 10 years Deborah has displayed a tremendous work ethic, operating on a number of sites for a variety of clients including: Kalamazoo, Shenley Fields Daycare and Nursery School, Bathroom Accessories and RoSPA’s Head Office on Calthorpe Road in Edgbaston.

Deborah, Anita and the RoSPA Cleaning Team.

At RoSPA’s Head Office, Deborah has built a great rapport with our Client Contact, Anita Gough and offers fantastic support to Anne Park who is Location Manager for this important contract.

    Contract Manager, Debbie Rhodes commented:

Deborah is a key component of the team here at RoSPA, she applies herself so well, working incredibly hard each cleaning shift, meaning that managing her is an absolute pleasure! RoSPA have been leaders in health & safety for over a 100 years and so diligence and following proper protocol is paramount when cleaning their Head Office, and thankfully Deborah and the team here overseen by Anne Park are fantastic in this department!”
